SHORT WALK (1 ¼ miles).
A generally easy walk on level terrain through fields, woodland, and alongside the River Derwent and including a short section of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way.
This walk commences at Calver Bridge, and offers glimpses of Calver Mill before continuing through Stocking Farm and then through woodland to New Bridge. Having crossed over the bridge, the return leg of the walk passes by Calver Weir and then follows a riverside path, and finally road, back into Calver. This walk passes through a tranquil and beautiful area that is rich in wildlife. Calver Mill, Calver Weir, the Goit and the Shuttle House are all features of significant historical interest.

This walk follows the outbound route of the short walk as far as New Bridge, and then continues northward along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way as far as Froggatt Bridge. By crossing Froggatt Bridge to the east side, one can return to New Bridge along a riverside path that runs pleasantly along the bottom of some gardens and through woodland. Once at New Bridge, follow the return leg of the short route past Calver Weir, and back into Calver via Dukes Drive. This walk passes through a tranquil and beautiful area that is rich in wildlife. Calver Mill, Calver Weir, the Goit and the Shuttle House are all features of significant historical interest.

This is a more strenuous route that leaves the riverside walk shortly after Froggatt Bridge, and climbs steadily up to Froggatt and Curbar Edges where one is afforded spectacular views of the Derwent Valley.
This walk follows the outbound leg of the medium walk as far as Froggatt Bridge. Crossing over the bridge to the east side, a signposted footpath is soon taken that climbs steadily through woodland and shrub, crossing the A625, and breaking out onto the moorland below Froggatt Edge. Once the top of Froggatt Edge is gained, a footpath is followed southwards to Curbar Gap, where a descent can be made along the road firstly to Curbar village, and then to Calver.
This is a varied walk, that combines a peaceful riverside stroll with the exhilaration of the climb to the top of Froggatt and Curbar Edges, and the prospect of fine views during the descent to Calver. Calver Mill, the Goit and the Shuttle House are all features of significant historical interest.
